I posted a similar question in an old thread on DPF delete (off road only) and others replied that the urea is used to treat the output of the DPF specifically and that without a DPF the urea does nothing. At least that was my understanding of what they said. And for the record a DPF delete on a Passat DOES improve performance and power.
